Faulty Towers - The Dining Experience is back at Newcastle Theatre Royal this month following three successive sell-out seasons at the venue.  Expect shambolic service as standard, Mon 17 – Sat 22 November.

Faulty Towers - The Dining Experience is an affectionate homage to Fawlty Towers, the TV series written by John Cleese and Connie Booth.  An interactive theatre show, customers are served a three-course meal within the Theatre Royal by none other than Basil, Manuel and Sybil.  They are fully immersed in life at the infamous hotel, complete withnon-stop gags, utterly shambolic service and ‘70s style dining (of course!).

This highly improvised and site-specific comedy theatre continues to be acclaimed around the world by audiences and critics alike. It has appeared in 20 countries this year alone and has sold-out seasons from Iceland to Malaysia, not to mention Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall and London’s West End. The last three years of shows at Newcastle Theatre Royal have sold out within days of opening.

Artistic director and show originator, Alison Pollard-Mansergh adds:‘Faulty is spelled that way because when I started this show in 1997, John Cleese, Prunella Scales and Andrew Sachs were still young enough to perform their roles. I didn't want people to think they were getting the original, so I spelled it differently. Happily, both they and the BBC know of our show, and we work often with the BBC.’ The original TV scripts are not used in Faulty Towers The Dining Experience.

Absolutely anything can happen as Basil, Sybil and Manuel serve guests, especially with just a third of the show scripted.

Faulty Towers - The Dining Experience was born in Brisbane in 1997 and made its international debut in 2008 at the Edinburgh Fringe, where it’s sold out every year since. It opened a residency in London’s West End in October 2012 and continues there still. Eight teams of cast now tour the world non-stop. The cast for the Theatre Royal features Rob Langston as Basil, Suzanna Hughes as Sybil, and Oliver Harrison as Manuel.
