How I Became Myself (By Becoming Someone Else)
Newcastle Alphabetti Theatre
Saturday 19th March 2016
How I Became Myself (By Becoming Someone Else) is about how changing your name and finding freedom through reinvention could gain you the power to tell your own story. It was developed through Fresh Blood, Chelsea Theatre’s emerging artist development programme. It is a “performed documentary” creating an interplay between confessional monologue, video interview, archive footage, projected text, and sound design. What people have to say:
"Paula’s meditations on identity and belonging make a unique and very satisfying investigation into the those aspects of life we sometimes take for granted”
Francis Alexander - Artistic Director - Chelsea Theatre
“The setup of the camera has so much resonance – because it is
“natural” and at the same time, totally mediated communication. I love it. “
Charles Adrian – Performer/Actor
