This week a spine-chilling whodunit will keep theatre goers guessing until the very end.

The stage adaptation of Father Brown – The Curse of the Invisible Man is brought to The Customs House in South Shields on Monday and Tuesday by the much-lauded theatre company Rumpus.

Based on the classic mysteries by G K Chesterton, mild-mannered Father Brown will have the tough task of solving multiple murders, despite the culprit leaving no trace. Can he … or she … be truly invisible?

John Lyons, Karen Henson & Charlotte Chinn
Custom House Executive Director Ray Spencer said: “Rumpus are masters of their craft and Father Brown is sure to have you gripped with suspense from beginning to end. Rumpus comes to us every autumn and brings us first rate drama. It’s the first time we have had their spring production and we are thoroughly looking forward to it.”

John Lyons
A familiar face will take the title role in the form of John Lyons. Having played DS George Toolan, David Jason’s sidekick in ITV’s A Touch of Frost, for 17 years he’s no stranger to solving cases.

Father Brown has also been turned into a hit BBC series starring Harry Potter’s Mark Williams.

Father Brown is called to the Edwardian country house of archaeologist Diana Hope and her niece Ella, where his incisive deductions peel away the many layers of this haunting case. Will he find the killer in time before they strike again?

John Goodrum from Rumpus who also stars in Father Brown added: “We love coming to The Customs House and we’re thrilled to be back. Come see if you can work out who the murderer is…”
