The Washington Theatre Group is ready for the first of their two summer shows, The Memory of Water, a dark comedy by Northumbrian writer Shelagh Stephenson. Three sisters meet on the eve of their mother's funeral. As the conflicts of the past converge, everyday lies and tensions reveal the particular patterns and strains of family relationships. 
  
The Washington Theatre Group is a not-for-profit amateur dramatics group for adults based in Washingtonin the North East of England. All members are over 18. The group has been running since 1976 and has staged numerous shows over the years, in the form of an annual pantomime as well as drama and comedy productions. “The WTG isn't just about performing on stage, it's all about working as a team and having a chance to try new things. We all pitch in and do our best to put on a great show, not just for ourselves but for the audience, the community and sometimes for charity.”

The group meet at the Arts Centre Washington every Tuesday at 7.30pm till 9.30pm. Anyone who wants to join can just turn up on a Tuesday night.
