WATCH OUT, THERE’S A GIANT ABOUT!
The People’s Theatre Christmas Panto
Jack and the Beanstalk
by Philip Meeks
Newcastle People’s Theatre
Saturday 10th – Sunday 18th December 2016
If you’ve been wondering what all of the recent building work at People’s Theatre is for, all can now be revealed …
They have had to get our theatre enlarged for the hugegiant who’s taking up residence here for their Christmas Panto! Now the scaffolding’s gone and we’ve got a massive magic beanstalk inside.
“Magic beans, Jack?
Now, what are we supposed to do with those?!”
Who’d be a mother? You send your son out to the shops and he comes back with a handful of magic beans!
Yes, it’s the festive season once more and our Jack And The Beanstalk explodes onto the stage in a colourful, all-singing, all-dancing spectacular.
We’ve got a lavishly costumed wisecracking Dame Nelly (played once again by People’s Theatre favourite Steve Robertson), her cheeky, chirpy lad Jack, and a whole host of friends to take you on a thrilling trip up the beanstalk!

This fun-filled and hilarious take on the classic tale is written by award-winning playwright Philip Meeks, who is himself a professional pantomime dame of many years standing.
Like the beanstalk, The People’s Panto has grown and grown in scale and popularity over recent years and shows sell out quicker and quicker. Book soon to avoid disappointment - some performances are full-to-bursting already.
And if you’re looking ahead to the new year, we’ve got Agatha Christie whodunit The Unexpected Guest to chase away the January blues and Greek tragedy Antigone in February. Tickets are on sale now – they’d made the ideal Christmas present for a theatre-loving friend or relative.
