Touching, funny and utterly original, Scamp Theatre’s delightful adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Stick Man is coming to Tyne Theatre & Opera House this October.

What starts off as a morning jog becomes quite the misadventure for Stick Man: a dog wants to play fetch with him, a swan builds a nest with him, and he even ends up on a fire! How will Stick Man ever get back to the family tree?

This award-winning production, from the team behind Tiddler and other Terrific Tales and The Scarecrows’ Wedding, features a trio of top actors and is packed full of puppetry, songs, live music and funky moves. Stick Man is most suitable for all aged 3+ but all ages are welcome!

‘Zesty and delightful. A clever compelling treat’- Independent

'More fun than you can shake a stick at' - Daily Mail

'Julia Donaldson's miniature epic.  Sally Cookson and her team recreate the book with vigour and imagination' - Times

‘Scamp Theatre’s productions are a pleasure for the child in us all’ - Evening Standard
‘Scamp Theatre send shivers down my spine. They are so lively and innovative. I love their production of Stick Man and so do the audiences’ - Julia Donaldson, author and former Children’s Laureate

Tyne Theatre & Opera House Director Joanne Johnson says: “I’m thrilled that we can bring the live stage adaptation of this much-loved children’s tale to the theatre! I’ve read Julia Donaldson’s books including Stick Man to my own children many times, so I can’t wait to see how it will be brought to life on stage by Scamp Theatre. We’ve been expanding our programme of family shows lately: coming up we also have The Wizard of Oz Easter Panto, children’s TV presenter Naomi Wilkinson’s Wild & Scary Show, and Annie the Musical presented by Astravaganza Entertainment. We think a trip to the theatre should be enjoyed by the whole family, so it’s great that we can add Stick Man to these events!”
