TyneMusic: Dennis Hopes to Create a West Endfor the Northeast!

Dennis Westgate, 80, has been writing musical plays since his retirement 15 years ago. His first production was Platform 9: a romantic look at life on a railway station in the 1950s. The show had a great reception in York.

He has now finished writing his 10thmusical Closed Circuit, based in the workings of a computer! Other shows include the historical Grace Darling and the topical Broken Doll, which deals with the difficult subject of teen mental health and suicide, but in a light-hearted, musical manner. The team all have this serious issue at heart and want to inspire young people to seek assistance when they need it.

Dennis has brought his musical skills to the northeast and is now based in Breeze Creatives,
Newcastlewith his team in Tyne Music. “I just want to create a platform for young people over 18 to get on stage, not a stage school as such. We will help individuals further their careers and be seen performing original material”.  A short film is being made of the renamed Platform 2, at Stephenson Railway Museum to really get that 50s feeling, and show what can be done with the music.

Tyne Music also has a recording studio and videography equipment so young artists can get their talents recorded for YouTube and have material they can use for casting. Tyne Music is holding a free networking event at the Mining Institute on Westgate Road, Newcastle on 29thSeptember. There will be music and a chance to meet other creatives anyone interested in music, art and the creative industries.
