Cult comedy music quiz show, Mixtape returns to Live Theatre for a three-night extravaganza this Christmas. 

Join the Mixtapers from Thursday 14 to Saturday 16 December at 8pm on Live Theatre’s main stage and battle it out for the ultimate Xmas prize. Featuring a selection of sketches inspired by classic Christmas songs plus an assortment of favourite sketches from a variety of popular music genres, Mixtape promises to be the perfect Christmas party night out!

As Live Theatre’s Creative Producer, Graeme Thompson explains: “Mixtape is one of the most unique performance experiences in our region. Combining theatre, music and comedy it is always a hit with Live Theatre audiences. The Mixtape Christmas show is always a hilarious, alternative festive event which usually sells out!”

The North East Theatre Guide went along to Mixtape 90s and we said “We had a cracking night out with an energetic cast looking back at a great era of music.  It is a slick comedy, music and a quiz rolled into one and it works.”

How it works? Only the lyrics from the songs can be used to form the scripts and the running time of the sketches mustn’t be longer than the tracks that inspired them. The audience plays along in teams to guess the songs and bands / artists that inspire the sketches. The winning team, at the end of the night, will be crowned the winners of the highly coveted Golden Mixtape trophy.

Festive fancy dress is highly encouraged with the most fabulously dressed team winning an extra special bonus prize each night.
