Alphabetti Theatre Launch Their Spring 2018 Season
Alphabetti Theatre is back and
ready to take over the world in 2018! Kicking things off with a season launch
on Friday 2nd February, the gang, spearheaded by Artistic Director
Ali Pritchard and beloved theatre dog Rex, are set to take on a whole host of
theatre, music, comedy and more this spring.
This season welcomes back
Alphabetti regulars such as Hodes and Stone with their bechdel-approved comedy
nights, Bonnie & The Bonnettes with a queertastic cabaret and Write On Tap
with their production Bankers, previously presented in its early
stages at the old basement venue. CaroleW Productions returns in April to
present two high quality productions: Hopeless
by award-winning spoken word artist Leyla Josephine and interactive piece, Tiger, by Teuchter Company.
As well as familiar faces from
the region, there will be plenty of new blood as exciting talent from around
the country makes a visit to Alphabetti Theatre. London-based Fuel Theatre are
sending two incredible productions, So
Many Reasons created & performed by Racheal Ofori this February and This Restless State by Danielle Pearson
in April. Jamal Harewood from Brighton brings his participatory-led show Privileged. And Manchester-based duo Me
Me Me Theatre bring their sci-fi theatre party, Clonely, to the theatre this March.
Alphabetti do of course have
something a little bit special to offer this season, in the form of a dramatic
reading of new book Keeping Time written
by none other than Mr Pritchard himself! This fantastical story, aimed at ages
8 and above, combines magic, deceit and clocks with a live musical score.
Spring 2018 also offers more
opportunities to get involved than ever before! From singing and performing as
part of Beccy Owen’s pop-up choir ‘A Capella Pleasures’, to monthly spoken
word/poetry workshops with Apples & Snakes and to learning stand-up comedy
with John Scott, with the chance to support him on tour, there really is a bit
of something for everyone!
As ever, all productions are £10
or under with plenty of them Pay What You Feel making great theatre and art
accessible to everyone.
Join us this Friday as Artistic
Director Ali Pritchard takes to the stage to outline the season ahead and to
celebrate the launch with some dancing and merriment!
