Winner: Leicester Comedy Festival Best New Show 2017
"Comedian’s Comedian" podcast host and 'expert stand-up'
(Times)
Goldsmith now commits to the bit.
After
a run of packed houses at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival,
host and creator of The “Comedian’s Comedian Podcast” Stuart Goldsmith will
tour his latest hour of stand-up, Like I Mean It, around the UK in 2018.
Stu's finally getting accustomed to
parenthood and living as a family, and now the gnawing desperation he used to
feel in everyday life has been supplanted by a core of molten joy. The only
downside? Oceans of resentment on the surface!
People
talk about "digging deep" and "carrying on", but Stu's
fixated on his wife's insomnia, the price of blueberries, and how hard it is to
howl with rage in your car without scaring the postman. Not to mention swimming lessons, interminable
Brexit and what a weird place the world has turned into since the baby was
conceived...
How
does everyone else cope with the early mornings?
What's
the secret of lasting contentment?
And
why, if it's a genuine medical condition, does his wife freak out only at the
sound of Stu eating, and not the little dribbling child?!
2017
saw Stuart complete his second international tour, supporting Jack Whitehall in
front of 12,000 people at a sold-out Wembley Arena, and culminating in a packed
week-long run at Soho Theatre.
Stu's
"Comedian's Comedian" podcast hit the peaks of 8.5 million downloads,
celebrating its 200th episode with a special appearance by Stewart Lee that has
to be his most-downloaded yet. Other
ComComPod guests this year included comedy legends like Russell Brand, Reginald
D Hunter, Jo Brand and Barry Cryer.
To talk about myself in the first person for once; winning
Best New Show at Leicester with a flappy, all-over-the-place new material
preview was brilliant, and look, honestly? This is my best ever show. I'm so
proud of it, it's stupider and less clever-clogs and just the funniest stuff
I've ever created. OK? Back to the PR...
Come see how 'a master of the form' (Independent) 'makes
it look easy' (Chortle).
As seen on "Alan
Davies: As Yet Untitled" and "Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central"
