A one woman show featuring some of Jane Austen’s most memorable characters comes to Arts Centre Washington on Wednesday 23 May.
Austen's Women comes from the creators of Jane Eyre: An Autobiography, The Time
Machine, Dalloway, The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe, Female Gothic,
I, Elizabeth, The Diaries of Adam and Eve and
Christmas Gothic.
Thirteen of Jane Austen’s heroines come to life in this bold revisiting
of some of literature’s most celebrated works as Rebecca Vaughan
becomes Emma Woodhouse, Lizzy Bennet, Mrs Norris, Miss Bates and nine
other beautifully observed women in critical moments from Austen’s major novels
(including Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma)
and lesser known or unfinished works (the Juvenilia
and Sanditon).
This entertaining evocation of Jane Austen’s
timeless works is a treat for Austen lovers – who’ll fall in love with these
characters all over again – and a perfect primer for the uninitiated.
Dyad Productions creates, produces and tours
classic theatre with an innovative and contemporary emphasis. Austen’s Women was a five-star success
at Edinburgh in 2009, 2013 and 2017. It
was also a success at Adelaide 2010 and Sydney Writers’ Festival 2016. Other Dyad productions, The Time Machine, Jane Eyre:
An Autobiography, I, Elizabeth, The
Diaries of Adam and Eve, Female
Gothic, The Unremarkable Death of

Gothic joined the Dyad stable in 2015.
