The rags to riches tale of Jack and the Beanstalk will sprout up in Seaton Delaval this festive season as Seaton Delaval Pantomime Society present their 46th annual production. From the team behind last year’s Dick Whittington, it promises to be a spectacular production for the whole family to enjoy, packed full of show-stopping songs, dazzling dance routines and hilarious knockabout comedy with bags of audience participation and fun.

The poor Trott’s family haven’t got a bean to their name. There’s local lad Jack, his mother Dame Dot Trott and his brother Simple Simon. Their friendly cow Daisy has gone dry and they can’t afford a pot to pass around. Even worse still the village is being destroyed by the evil giant Blunderbore and his gruesome assistant Fleshcreep. Come on a magical adventure to Cloudland in the sky to see if Jack can save the day, defeat the giant and win Princess Jill’s heart.

The talented local cast sees Lauren Greenwood as our hero Jack Trott, Stu Bennett returning as the hilarious Dame Dot Trott and Mark Robinson playing the loveable but dim-witted Simple Simon. They’re joined by Sandra Fleck as the wicked Fleshcreep whose plans are foiled at every opportunity by the magical Mother Nature played by Katie Jackson. Sarah McBean takes to the stage Jack’s love interest Princess Jill, Robert Wilson as the King of Vegtaville along with a fantastic team of ensemble and dancers. The rib-tickling script is penned by local writer and actor Tom Whalley, produced by Lorna-Beth Pearson and Stu Bennett with musical direction from Gareth Miller.

Director Lorna-Beth Pearson said “We’ve got a fantastic show in store for audiences this year with a brilliant cast, stunning special effects, toe tapping live music, amazing costumes and side-splitting comedy with plenty of jokes for the little ones and the big kids too! Our traditional pantomime sticks to the story of the classic tale, but with a few modern twists added in. It’s going to be one giant adventure you don’t want to miss!”
