Preview: Tabby McTat at Newcastle Tyne Theatre

Freckle Productions present:
Tabby McTat
Newcastle Tyne Theatre & Opera House
Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th October 2019
Heart-warming and colourful, Freckle Productions’ delightful adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Tabby McTat is coming to Tyne Theatre & Opera House this October.

Tabby McTat is a cat with the loudest of meee-ews and a best friend with a guitar.  Together they sing their favourite songs delighting the crowds, until one day Fred disappears.

Separated and alone, Tabby finds shelter and a new life with all the home comforts that any cat could dream of.  However, memories of his life with Fred haunt him, and he sets off to search the streets for his long-lost friend.
From the team behind Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales and Zog, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Tabby McTat is a heart-warming tale of friendship and loyalty interwoven with original songs and a sprinkling of magic.

Tabby McTat is the latest production to be added to Tyne Theatre & Opera House’s fantastic programme of children’s shows for 2019, and will be the second Julia Donaldson stage adaptation of the year, following the magical Zog, which is at the theatre this May.

2019 sees Tyne Theatre & Opera House welcome Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom Live back to their stage in June after sell-out performances in 2017, and In the Night Garden Live will delight audiences in July.

Tyne Theatre is also thrilled to have the Elmer the Patchwork Elephant Show in their programme for August, coinciding with Elmer’s Great North Parade, presented by St Oswald’s Children’s Hospice.

Theatre Director Joanne Johnson says: “I’m thrilled that we are able to programme so many wonderful children’s shows here at Tyne Theatre – it’s lovely to see children enjoying the magic of the theatre. We’ve already had several Julia Donaldson productions visit our venue, including Stick Man and Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales, and we have Zog here in May, which I can’t wait to see after watching the animation at Christmas! Tabby McTat will no doubt be just as special as these previous productions, and will be a real treat for the whole family to enjoy.”
