On
the back of what was a hugely successful, sold-out, spring tour of Pricks, actress Jade Byrne is delighted to bring her one-woman
stage show back to her home-town this week at The Hullabaloo.
Programmed
by the Darlington Hippodrome, Pricks sold out two shows
in the town on its Spring tour, both at The Pennyweight, as well as being shown
at the Queen’s Hall in Hexham, and the Northern Stage, Newcastle.
This time around the actress, who has television
credits in Inspector George Gently and Casualty, brings additional goodness in
that the performance is also to be filmed for potential use at a later date.
Successfully completing one tour earlier this year, Jade became a
‘Celebrity Ambassador’ for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and
a DEXCOM Warrior, during it, from which she said: “It was a really fantastic tour
and an overwhelming success. I performed Pricks to lots
of sold-out venues in front of some really lovely audiences containing some
fabulous people, and to be afforded those two honours, from the JDRF and
DEXCOM, was amazing. I still find the ‘celebrity’ status with the JDRF
hilarious because to me, I’m not one. I’m really proud of it though and
thrilled to have been asked as I love raising both awareness of, and funds for
(she raised over £1700 during the tour), Type 1 Diabetes and the charity itself
whilst becoming a DEXCOM Warrior, that’s another privilege and I was
over-the-moon when they asked me. In fact, when I performed Pricks
at TADTalk 2019 in London, that is what I wanted to come from my going there,
or maybe it’s just the name, I don’t know.”
As part of her October dates, Jade is also
scheduled to appear as a key-note speaker at the Children with Diabetes Friends
for Life 2019 UK Conference in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
Jade added: “It’s a huge honour to be asked to speak at the conference. I’ve been asked to speak, for an hour, about
my life with diabetes and any other things which I maybe could include, things
that are happening in my life like my writing a children’s book.”

Other announcements, including the children’s book, and ongoing
work with both the JDRF and DEXCOM, are due over the coming months, whilst
