South Shields theatre company
Walton-Gunn Productions best known for their Peter Plank shows announce the
cast for their newest show, Wendy The Wonderful Witch: A Halloween Panto. A
spooktacular production for all the family that will feature eighteen year old
actor Georgina Whale-Spencer, daughter of well known North East entertainer Ray
Spencer. Following in her fathers footsteps, she has already begun carving out
a reputation as a quality performer, topped off by a recent award.

Last month N.O.D.A held their annual
awards celebration in Newcastle, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association
had nominated the pantomime Goldilocks and the Three Bears for two awards. One
of which was a performance award for Georgina and the other a best panto award,
both for the Westovians panto production. After all was said and done, the best
panto award was won for The Westovians Theatre in South Shields. That wasn’t
the only win of the night though as Georgina Whale-Spencer also won the individual performance award for her role as the ‘magical
and brilliantly funny’ Silly Billy.
Two for two on a special night for
the South Shields society and their production Goldilocks and the Three Bears. One
that earned them lots of praise earlier this year.
Georgina not content with resting on
her laurel’s, went on to bag a role as the title character Wendy The Witch in
the upcoming production. A role that already has had a great pedigree of talent
attached in the past. A role played for many years by well known North East
actor Sarah Boulter, last seen in the smash musical The Dolly Mixtures.

The popular character is now set for
a new generation of performer says writer/director Wayne Miller. “For many
years the character of Wendy was played so wonderfully by Sarah, but like many
greats they continue on…just like James Bond. A new actor gets the chance to
make it their own, bring new life to it and to a new audience too. That’s just
what Georgina is going to do, and do it so well.”
After seeing her as Silly Billy in
this years panto, Walton-Gunn producer Stacy knew that she was the perfect
choice to take on the role and lead their new panto production. “There was no
doubt that Georgina was just right for taking over the role, she has the
talent, the right attitude and work ethic to nail it. She really is a performer
to watch, someone that can make a great career should she choose” added Stacy.
Being no stranger to the Westovian
Theatre stage, Georgina cant wait to get back on there for a new panto
production.“ I really can’t wait to be part of this years spooky pantomime.
I’ve watched these shows growing up, so to get a chance to work with Wayne is
an amazing experience”

An amazing experience that they all
hope to have this Halloween. The company have gathered a cast together that
includes writer/director Wayne Miller (best known as Santa’s Naughty Elf) as
Dame Tickle and fellow North East performer Beth Clarke who plays Dame Tickle’s
son Tommy. Backing the top cast will be Walton-Gunn’s dancers Gracie Gillies, Daisy
Lincoln, Hollie Cairns, Katelyn Moore and Maisie Tomlin. So there is no doubt
where you should be this October.
“If you are looking to celebrate
Halloween in a fun, different way this year. Be sure to come celebrate with us
for the most panto fun you’ll have this spooky season” promises Georgina.
