For the big top Panto that’s just right!

Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Seaton Delaval Arts Centre
Friday 29th November – Saturday 7th December 2019

The circus arrives in town this festive season as Seaton Delaval Pantomime Society present their 47th annual family Pantomime with a modern twist on the classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. From the same team behind last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk, it promises to be a spectacular colourful production for the whole family to enjoy, packed full of show-stopping songs, dazzling dance routines and hilarious knockabout comedy with bags of audience participation and fun.

Dame Gertie Dollop runs the circus with her daft son Silly Billy, but they’ve fallen on hard times. The ticket sales are drying up and they haven’t got a pot to pass around! Particularly with the dastardly Ringmaster Heinkel, owner of the rival circus, up to his old evil tricks. Gertie needs a miracle after their honeypot of pennies is accidentally stolen by three porridge hungry, talking bears. Could they be the new star attraction Gertie has been searching for?

The talented local cast sees Katie Jackson as the fabulous Goldilocks, Stu Bennett returning as the hilarious Silly Billy and Laurence Hill as the flamboyant circus owner Dame Gertie Dollop. They’re joined by Mark Robinson as the wicked Ringmaster Heinkel and his snivelling sidekick Workie Ticket (Beth Robinson) whose plans are foiled at every opportunity by the magical Mystic Sharon played by Kel Smurthwaite. Completing this year’s line-up are Chris Orchard as Goldilocks father Baron Wasteland, the talented Thea Hillman and Izzie Sandison sharing the role of Baby Bear, Bethany Wallace as Mammy Bear and Alex Marnock as Daddy Bear.

Director Lorna-Beth Pearson said “Golidlocks and the Three Bears isn’t always one of the most commonly performed panto’s, but we’ve got a fantastic bright and colourful show in store for audiences this Christmas with stunning special effects, toe tapping live music, amazing costumes and side splitting comedy with plenty of jokes for the little ones and the big kids too! Our traditional pantomime sticks to the story of the classic tale, but with a few modern twists added in along the way, it’s the pawfect way to get into the festive spirit!”

The rib-tickling script is penned by local writer and actor Tom Whalley, produced by Lorna-Beth Pearson and Stu Bennett with a live band and musical direction from Gareth Miller.
